Job description

Community Service Officer (2 Positions)

Groton Town Police Department 

Part-Time, up to 19 hours per week                              

To include evening, weekends, and holidays 

STARTING RATE:        $18.00 / hour

POSITION RANGE:     $18.00 - $19.00 / hour

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The Community Service Officer performs assigned duties in the areas of parking enforcement, traffic control, and community relations. The individual in the role will be required to apply reasoning ability to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.  The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with a high school education, with college coursework in criminal justice or law enforcement.  Must have strong customer service skills.  Requires the ability to enforce instructions with firmness and effectiveness, be calm in stressful emergency situations, well organized, accurate, attentive to detail, and effectively prioritize.    Considerable skill in the operation of a computer, including related software applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and the internet is preferred.  Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
