Description
NOTE: Part-Time / Temporary Event Porters work seasonal and on-demand events throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan area. Event Porters may be tasked with cleaning floors, carpets, bathrooms, windows, common public areas at large facilities or venues at local St. Louis events inside and outside. This job is well suited to people who can work competently under minimal supervision, who have the strength and stamina to lift at least 50 lbs. and can spend long hours on their feet, and who can follow instructions clearly and work to a set schedule. Applicants MUST have an email address and/or phone to receive and confirm job assignments.
Reports to: Event Supervisor
Typical duties:
  1. Perform cleaning/maintenance of floors, common public areas, bathrooms, windows.
  2. Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
  3. Utilize the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
  4. Use and maintain equipment properly.
  5. Operate and maintain all equipment correctly and safely
  6. Observe safety precautions at all times, uses safety signs "wet floor"
  7. Ability to work with minimal supervision
  8. Reports safety hazards as appropriate
  9. Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
Professional Requirements:
  1. Must be 17 years of age or older;
  2. Must have an email address to receive work schedules;
  3. Have a checking or savings account and be willing to receive electronic paycheck deposit
  4. Ability to efficiently and courteously interact with people;
  5. Qualities such as competence, independence, self-sufficiency, dependability
  6. Valid driver's license in good standing (clear driving record)
  7. Ability to work staggered shift assignments as necessary including evenings and weekends;
  8. Ability to use or learn to use a variety of tools and equipment;
  9. Strong customer service skills;
  10. Must be self-motivated and possess the ability to be productive with limited supervision;
  11. Regular attendanceAdhere to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
  12. Report to work on time and as scheduled.
  13. Wear identification while on duty.
  14. Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  15. Attend regular staff and safety meetings.

Minimum Qualifications (Education/Experience):
Required - Must be 17+ years old
Preferred - High School Diploma
Preferred - One year of Janitor/Custodian or janitorial/custodian experience.
Preferred - One year of experience operating floor care or motorized equipment.
Listening skills - strong active listening skills help Service Workers follow instructions clearly and understand what is required of them before beginning a task.
Attention to detail - Service Workers ensure that the area they are managing is cleaned thoroughly, so attention to detail is a key aspect of the role
Time management - this job requires the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner and to set schedules, so applicants need good time management skills
Physical stamina - Service Workers spend most of their workday on their feet, operating cleaning equipment so good physical strength and stamina is a must
Mechanical skills - this job may involve using, driving and charging floor cleaning equipment and tools

  • Standing and/or walking (85 - 90%)
  • Bending, kneeling, squatting, and/or stooping.
