Job SummaryPerform general maintenance and groundskeeping activities
Essential Job Functions
  1. Maintenance
    1. Adhere to all safety standards and work practices established by the physical plant, including timely reporting of incidents if any.
    2. Inspect as scheduled and perform preventative maintenance and work orders on the following:
      1. Buildings, structures, and foundations
      2. Vehicles, equipment, and tools
      3. Electrical and telecommunication systems
      4. Water and sewer systems
      5. Air conditioning and heating systems
    3. Review the work site to determine the procedure, material, and equipment needed to complete the assignment.
    4. Move equipment in and out of storage.
    5. Make recommendations to the supervisor projecting the cost and time needed to complete a job.
  2. Groundskeeping
    1. Mow grass and edge walkways.
    2. Weed flowerbeds, around shrubs and trees, and as directed.
    3. Remove dead branches, prune, and maintain trees. Inspect trees for damage from pests and disease.
    4. Maintain trails on the property
    5. Remove leaves from the property.
    6. Remove snow and ice using power snow blowers, chemical ice melts, truck-mounted plows, shovels, and ice scrapers.
  3. Misc. Duties
    1. Move furniture and set up meeting spaces and offices as requested.
    2. Monitor and protect the property from uninvited guests or threats.
    3. Remain accessible and available in the event of emergencies and when needed to meet the ongoing mission of the Blake Center.

Required Qualifications
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and ExperienceRequires a high school diploma and two (2) years of experience in minor construction or maintenance repair work, or any combination of education, training, or experience that fulfills the needs of the College. Must also possess a valid driver's license.

Physical Demands
  1. Must be able to work outside in various temperatures and weather conditions.
  2. Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, and stairs and work from heights.
  3. Must be able to lift, carry, or otherwise move heavy objects and equipment.
