Job Summary:

As the Control Systems Technical Engineering Group Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising engineers and helping to execute assignments concerned with specialized or unique engineering requirements for this project. This position has technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating these assignments. This involves exploration of the subject area, definition of scope, and may involve the development of novel concepts, approaches, and solutions. This role will interface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines, other functional departments, and the client in the development of the design. 
The ideal candidate will have solid experience in control system design and will be capable of developing design documents that incorporate the applicable design. In addition, it will be required that the candidate have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), and can be the “face” of Bechtel, promoting our leadership, quality, and safety values, to external partners including vendors, construction companies, and other subcontractors.

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-EH1

Major Responsibilities:
  • Manage discipline work process execution and assure technical adequacy in accordance with company, contract, and industry codes and standards.
  • Be accountable for error-free deliverables.
  • Review and approve technical reports, studies, design documentation, specifications, material/service requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and calculations using engineering software, as applicable, for control systems equipment/instrumentation.
  • Conduct technical presentations related to Control Systems Engineering design.
  • Provide timely input to and maintenance of the project staffing plan.
  • Build an inclusive team environment
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to team members.
  • Create meaningful goals working with the team and ensure goals are met.
  • Conduct task assignments and pre-job briefs with assigned team members and stakeholders.
  • Conduct quality checks for Control Systems’ work.
  • Participate in project quality audits and technical reviews.
  • Promote and train team on the use of new Bechtel digital work processes and provide innovative solutions to support the same.
  • Stays up to date with new software, automation work processes, technical developments, and their implementation 
  • Understands specialist group work process and dependencies between functions 
  • Participates in Technical Working Groups (TWG) or specialty workshops and participates/leads in national level meetings of a professional society 
  • Proactively contributes to Bechtel Technical Information Program (BTIP) and presents technical papers 
  • Assists in the development and coordination of special technical educational and training programs for Bechtel personnel and/or clients  
  • Manages customer relations on issues related to specialty area 
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Automation/Controls/Instrumentation, Electro-Mechanical, or Electronics Engineering from an accredited university or college, with 10-13 years of progressive Control Systems Engineering experience and a minimum of four years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
Required Knowledge and Skills:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be authorized to live and work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in a Nuclear Quality and Safety Environment.
  • Experience in nuclear plant design (commercial power plant or DOE facility).
  • Current Professional Engineering License.
  • Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1 or ISO-9001.
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards (e.g., ISA, ASME and/or ANSI/IEEE).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 application suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.) and other related computer programs required to perform job functions.
  • Extensive knowledge of Control Systems Engineering work processes and specifications.
  • Willingness to travel on business trips in support of the project.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.
