Job description

Title: House Manager & Family Assistant

Location: Cary, NC 27519

Employment Type: Part-time (20-25 hours/week, with 20 hours guaranteed)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM, with occasional weekly date night coverage

Compensation: $25-30/hour, based on experience. This is a W-2 position.

Start Date: July 27, 2026

Requirements:

  • Must maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Have reliable transportation, with a clean driving record, mileage reimbursement provided for errands/pickups
  • Up-to-date general vaccinations
  • Active CPR and First Aid Certification, or willingness to renew
  • Previous experience with childcare

In the kitchen, you're comfortable jumping in and whipping up a meal when needed, confidently making decisions about meal planning and prep along the way. You are warm, friendly, and professional, with a natural ability to respect boundaries while building a genuine and trusting relationship with our family.

Key Responsibilities:
    Household Management & Organization:
    • Create or maintain household organization systems (e.g., playroom)
    • Assist with daily resets and preparation for cleaners (every other week)
    • Light tidying (dishes, surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas)
    • Seasonal swaps (clothing, dcor, bedding)
    • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs
    • Prepare for events, holiday, and guest stays
    • General home maintenance (e.g., batteries, light bulbs)
    Deep Cleaning & Special Projects:
    • Occasional deep cleaning (e.g., fridge, oven, baseboards)
    • Refresh garage, mudroom, and entry areas
    • Clean humidifiers/air purifiers
    • Organize special projects (toys, gear, seasonal decorations)
    Inventory & Errands:
    • Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, household supplies
    • Manage household supply lists and create orders (e.g., Amazon, Costco, Target)
    • Run errands: grocery shopping, returns, dry cleaning, gift shopping
    • Handle returns, gift shopping, and package/mail management
    Meal Planning & Prep:
    • Plan and prepare 2-3 meals per week for the whole family, focusing on healthy whole foods
    • Assist with chopping and general prep
    • Prep school lunches
    • Shop for groceries and meal-related items
    • Follow dietary preferences (healthy, low sugar, wild-caught)
    • Kitchen cleanup and maintenance
    Laundry & Linen Care:
    • Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry (e.g., clothing, bedding, towels)
    • Iron, steam, and prepare outfits or dry cleaning as needed
    • Manage linens: rotate bedding, refresh towels, restock essentials
    • Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with supplies
    Vehicle Management:
    • Manage family vehicles (cleaning, fueling, maintenance scheduling)
    • Track registration, insurance, and service schedules
    Family Support & Child Assistance:
    • Assist with pick-ups and drop-offs
    • Light supervision or backup childcare
    • Supervision for occasional date nights
    • Prep backpacks, clothing, and snacks for school
    • Help with child-related laundry or errands
    Vendor & Property Oversight:
    • Schedule and supervise service providers, ensuring delivery of projects on time and on budget
    • Research, coordinate, and obtain quotes for repairs and maintenance, ensuring best value
    • Maintain an annual checklist of contractors and services to manage at specific times of year (e.g., winterizing and restarting the sprinkler system, annual pollen cleaning in the spring, holiday light installation, HVAC maintenance)
    • Support vendor sourcing, planning, and oversight of occasional larger one-off projects in the home (e.g., a room or garage renovation, installation of a new landscape feature, etc.
    • Manage outdoor spaces (patio cleaning, seasonal prep)
    Administrative & Personal Assistant Support
    • Help with travel planning, scheduling, and logistics
    • Manage family calendars and reminders
    • Track receipts and manage them in accordance with the family's budget
    • Assist with coordination of events, appointments, and guest prep
