At MKBC, we save lives every day by providing blood products to hospitals in PA and NJ. The Part-time Medical Technologist 2nd shift position in the Product QC Laboratory supports the Blood Center by performing clinical laboratory testing and assessing blood products for acceptability. The anticipated hourly wage starts at $24.78 per hour and is commensurate with experience. In addition, Miller-Keystone offers the following to all part-time employees:

What you will be doing:

  • Responsible for the testing and assessment of blood products and ensures that all testing is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Follows established policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality of laboratory results.
  • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment; maintains laboratory supply inventory.
  • Prepares specimens for testing as well as labeling of blood products in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).

What you will bring to the role:

  • A bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological or a related science field is required.
  • A background in healthcare with 1 year of experience in a laboratory is preferred.
  • Must possess basic computer skills, strong attention to detail, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and listening) to engage with employees of all backgrounds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle changing priorities to meet the needs of the blood center.

Additional information:

This position reports directly to the Laboratory Services Supervisor at our Bethlehem location.

The hours for this part-time position are 3pm-11pm, weekend and holiday rotations. On-call is required 1-2 nights per week.

Additionally, this position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, stand for long periods of time, and perform small and concise movements.

The position works with blood products on a daily basis, exposure to potential biohazardous substances is high.
