Job description

Department: Accounting- Accounts Payable Clerk

Status: Non-exempt/Hourly – Part Time $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Reports to: Controller

Principal Objective of the Position: The Accounts Payable Clerk will primarily support the Accounting Department in accounts payables to maintain accounting records and process accounts payable according to standard accounting procedures. This position reports to the Controller.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certification

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience with Accounting software (Yardi preferred)
  • Valid Driver’s License

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures
  • Ability to use personal computer and software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook etc)
  • Proficiency in use of calculator and office machines
  • Ability to communicate effectively

Experience

  • One year accounting experience at clerical level

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Accounting:

  1. Receive and process all accounts payable invoices, requisitions, receipts, expense reports and vendor information into accounting system.
  2. Detect and resolve problems with incorrect invoices and statements.
  3. Contact personnel and vendors to correct or obtain information needed.

Records and Reports:

  1. File/Scan office copies of invoices, requisitions, expense reports.
  2. Maintain and Monitor accounting electronic in box and incoming mail
  3. Keep records up to date
  4. Maintain vendor information and set up new accounts when changes occur.

Other:

  1. Communicate current status of invoices to accounting staff when necessary
  2. Prepare correspondence using personal computer
  3. Receive incoming calls pertaining to accounts payable, answer questions, and direct to the proper party
  4. Maintain confidentiality
  5. Performs any and all duties assigned
