Job description

Role and Responsibilities:
Part Time position supporting the TESS Task Order filling the test engineer position with some travel.
Duties include: system administration, upgrades, installation, and technical doc support. The position is part-time and located at Port Hueneme, CA.
Position Duties:• Either Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or other technical degree and minimum of 4 years' experience or no degree with a minimum of 8 years technical experience supporting Linux Red hat systems.
• Should have experience in managing one virtualization platform, such as KVM or VMWare or Hyper-V. Should understand TCP/IP, Active Directory, NTP, DNS, and DHCP, among others.
• Must be able to install new Linux OS releases, configure, upgrade, patch, and secure servers including installing, patching installations, upgrades, and maintenance of Intel-based system hardware and software.
• Must be able to implement LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP) web server configuration, which includes installation of all standard plugins, configuration, and SSL.
• Must have experience in handling NFS, CIFS, and SMB permissions. Capability to build multiple servers simultaneously and to monitor systems, validate the integrity and accessibility of all server resources, hardware, systems, and key processes. Need to have knowledge of cloud platforms, such as Azure, OpenStack or AWS.
• Must be able to review system and application logs, manage anti-virus solutions, and be well-versed with scripting of Bash, PERL, Ruby, and Python. Should also have knowledge of Java, Tomcat, and JBoss software applications.
• Must be able to create, maintain and update documentation. Also, need to back up, retrieve, maintain, and migrate programs and data.
• Carry out hardware upgrades, performance tuning, and resource optimization whenever required.
• Must be able to work independently or in a team, complete tasks, and provide technical guidance to others.
• Must be able to take responsibility for action items assigned, complete the actions, and provide status.
• Must have a valid driver's license with own transportation and able to travel.
• Must be able to satisfactorily complete background check and get a government clearance.
• Must be able to follow company policies and procedures.
• Must be able to write, speak and understand English and able to write clear, detailed technical monthly reports.
Preferred Skills:
• Knowledge of Oracle and MS SQL databases, and storage technologies, such as EMC SAN/NAS or NetApp.
• Experience with electronics fundamentals, circuit repair, and test equipment.
Mandatory Physical Requirements:
• Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds.
