Part-Time Senior Accountant
Eugene, OR (Flexible Schedule Available)
Hours: Approximately 15-25 hours per week
About the Role:
Pacific Recycling is seeking an experienced, analytical accounting professional to support our monthly financial reporting and accounting functions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys accounting, financial analysis, and working with data and is seeking a flexible, long-term part-time position. This is not an entry-level role and is not designed as a stepping stone to management. We are looking for someone who can contribute immediately, work independently, and become a trusted member of our accounting team.
Responsibilities:
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
• Prepare and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare supporting schedules and journal entries
• Assist with monthly financial statement preparation
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reporting
Financial Analysis
• Analyze operating expenses and identify trends, variances, and anomalies
• Review financial data and provide meaningful insights to management
• Support profitability and operational reporting initiatives
Data Analysis & Reporting
• Extract, organize, and analyze data from accounting and operational systems
• Build and maintain Excel-based reports and analysis tools
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency and visibility
• Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis
Compliance & Support
• Support annual financial review and tax processes
• Assist with property tax reporting and business surveys
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and related accounting records
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience
• Experience preparing financial statements and performing account reconciliations
• Strong understanding of accrual-based accounting
• Advanced Excel skills required
Technical Skills:
The successful candidate will be comfortable working with large data sets and using Excel to answer business questions. Experience with the following is strongly preferred:
• Pivot Tables
• XLOOKUP / INDEX-MATCH
• SUMIFS
• Data validation
• Financial modeling
• Importing and manipulating exported system data
• Power Query (preferred but not required)
