Job description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Provides effective property-wide security and first-aid response while ensuring excellent internal and external customer service.   Follows established policies and procedures, internal controls, and applicable tribal, state, and federal regulations and laws.   

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Observes and monitors activities on property for the protection of assets and the safety of patrons and employees.

  2. Responds to and ensures resolution of patron and/or employee verbal and/or physical altercations within scope of authority.  

  3. Responds to calls for first-aid and assists to the limit of ability and certification.

  4. Responds to service calls for escorts, gaming chip fills/credits, money transports and audits, and winner verifications. 

  5. Promotes compliance of policies and procedures while practicing positive employee relations. 

  6. Issues and receives controlled key sets, and vendor, guest and employee badges in accordance with internal controls.

  7. Assists in the maintenance of computerized records, files and databases, including, but not limited to, information relative to the company, its operations and personnel and guest- specific information.

  8. Provides accurate and timely documentation and reporting of department activities and status. 

  9. May assist in maintaining and optimizing department material and equipment inventories.

  10. Promotes continuous improvement in the performance of the department and its employees.

  11. Complies with established policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and internal controls.

  12. Such other job related duties as may be assigned by instruction from management.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS 

Required:

  1. Ability to obtain and maintain a Nooksack Tribal Gaming Agency License and Class III Washington State Gaming License. 

  2. Must be at least 21 years of age.

  3. Must be able to obtain and maintain valid certification in First Aid/CPR/AED within 60 days of employment.

  4. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Washington State Class 12 or 13 Alcohol Server’s Permit and TIPS for Gaming certification. 

  5. Washington Drivers license with acceptable and safe driving history.

Preferred:

  1. Successful casino security or security related experience. 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. May be required to work any shift, any day of the week including holidays.

  2. Will be monitored by surveillance cameras.

  3. Noisy, crowded, smoke-filled, and bright environment.

  4. May be required to operate a 15-passenger shuttle or similar vehicle.

  5. May work outdoors during all hours and in all weather. 

  6. May interact with persons who are angered, intoxicated or distressed. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Must be able to lift and/or pull up to 25 lbs. repeatedly.

  2. Performs sustained high level of physical activity, including running and jogging.

  3. Stands and walks for extended periods of time.  

  4. Must be able to bend, kneel, twist, and pull.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Knowledge of the principles of physical and personal security and risk management. 

  2. Knowledge of casino operations, surveillance equipment and relevant policies, procedures, and internal controls.        

  3. Knowledge of department codes.  

  4. Ability to communicate clearly on a variety of two-way radios. 

  5. Knowledge of PBX systems.

  6. Knowledge of alcohol service laws.

  7. Report writing and incident investigation skills.

  8. Problem solving skills.

  9. Positive customer service skills.

  10. Computer application skills including word processing and e-mail.

  11. Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.

  12. Ability to see and hear within normal range.

  13. Ability to remain calm and perform duties under stressful conditions.

  14. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

  15. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
