The Component Engineering Configuration Management Specialist will establish and maintain configuration control for electronic, electrical, electromechanical, and mechanical component data throughout the product lifecycle. This senior specialist will serve as the authoritative focal point for component-related configuration records, engineering parts lists, approved and preferred part data, product structures, change implementation, and controlled release within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Product Data Management (PDM), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

The role operates at the intersection of Component Engineering, design engineering, Configuration and Data Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Program Management, and external suppliers. The successful candidate will ensure that component selections and changes are complete, traceable, technically reviewed, contractually compliant, and accurately reflected in as-designed and as-built configurations across development, production, sustainment, and obsolescence-management activities.

This is a Part Time on site position

What You Will Do

  • Lead the planning, coordination, technical review, and controlled release of component-related engineering changes, change notices, deviations, waivers, and disposition records.

  • Analyze proposed part substitutions, alternate-source additions, manufacturer changes, product discontinuances, and specification revisions to identify affected assemblies, drawings, product baselines, qualification evidence, procurement actions, and fielded configurations.

  • Facilitate or support Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), parts review boards, change-review meetings, and release-readiness reviews; document decisions, actions, approvals, and implementation status.

  • Coordinate change effectivity and cut-in planning with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Program teams to ensure changes are implemented at the correct serial number, lot, date, or production milestone.

  • Confirm that released technical data packages are complete, internally consistent, approved by required functions, and suitable for procurement, production, inspection, test, and sustainment.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience

  • Relevant experience in engineering configuration management, component engineering operations, product data management, engineering change control, technical data management, or a closely related aerospace/defense discipline.

  •  Demonstrated experience controlling engineering parts lists, bills of material, product structures, drawings, specifications, or component master data in a regulated engineering and manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated experience with engineering change requests/notices, release workflows, configuration baselines, effectivity, deviations/waivers, and change implementation.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Working knowledge of PLM/PDM and ERP systems such as Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, Dassault ENOVIA, SAP, or equivalent enterprise tools.

  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, parts lists, and technical data packages and to identify inconsistencies across related configuration records.

  • Experience collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, program management, and suppliers on complex product or data issues.

  • Proven ability to organize and complete multiple high-priority assignments with limited direction while maintaining rigorous attention to detail and traceability.
