Position Title: Part- Time Kitchen Steward
Department: F&B
Exempt Status: Non - Exempt
Supervisor: Executive Chef, Sous Chefs
At A Glance:
Kitchen Steward is needed to work in our multiple dish rooms. We are looking for candidates with restaurant, hotel private club or institutional kitchen experience of at least two years. This job focuses on cleaning dinnerware, kitchen equipment, floors, walls, and all areas relating to sanitation. The right candidate will be positive, attentive, focused, and enjoy working in a team atmosphere. The ability to work, organized and structured is vital.
This is a part time position with hours from 3:30pm to 9:30 pm when scheduled Monday to Saturday. Sunday hours are 8am to 4pm. No late nights and we offer schedule flexibility to enhance your quality of life!
Starting Salary: $17.00 to $18.50 This is a part-time position that will average 25 hours per week.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
A unique opportunity exists to join a team in creating a vibrant senior learning community on the campus of Purchase College, State University of New York. The residents of this university-based retirement community will be able to enjoy the many amenities of the college including the renowned Neuberger Museum of Art, the Performing Arts Center, the academic and athletic facilities, and the park-like campus. They will be able to enjoy all these benefits while living in a village designed specifically for their interests and needs. As part of the Purchase College community, Broadview residents will enjoy both formal and informal programming and collaborative opportunities designed to promote intergenerational engagement with members of the college community, ranging from classes and mentoring to providing employment opportunities for students. Broadview will offer the full continuum of services, inclusive of Independent Living, Assisted Living, Enhanced Assisted Living, and Memory Care. The community is slated to open to residents in the third quarter of 2023.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The kitchen steward performs several kitchen-related activities including (but not limited to) Pot and Dish washing, general cleaning duties as well as storing both food and non-food supplies.
This is a full-time position with shifts to be determined; and requires evening, weekend and / or holiday availability.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Works under the supervision of a designated Culinary Management Team member
2. Utilizes a mechanical dish washing machine and other related equipment.
3. Set up and maintain the dish and pot washing area.
4. Distributes and stores clean pots, pans, dishes, and utensils.
5. Cleans and sanitizes production equipment, work surfaces and kitchen areas according to cleaning schedules and procedures.
6. Empties trash receptacles and transports waste to designated compacter and dumpster units.
7. Drains and fills all deep fryers on a scheduled basis and transports oil used to designated storage containers.
8. Complete daily and weekly cleaning duties assigned by kitchen management.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Use all chemical components per manufacturers recommendations.
• Wear all the required PPE when necessary.
• Assist with light food prep such as peeling carrots, onions, and potatoes.
Hourly Rate for this opportunity is $17-18.50 per hour.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
• The ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
• Ability to set up and operate commercial dish washing equipment as well as other related machinery.

• May be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals and hot water temperatures regularly.
