Job description

We’re searching for a food prep cook who will work with our head cook/chef to prep a variety of foods and stock food stations with ingredients and condiments. You’ll be responsible for keeping all food stations and equipment neat, clean, and sanitized. You must read recipe directions in English and operate kitchen equipment, including sharp knives and measuring tools. Expect some lifting, bending, and standing on your feet during your shift, as well as the ability to take on other duties as needed. Compensation:

$14 - $16 hourly


Responsibilities:
  • Prepare recipes using the proper measurements needed for condiments and wash dice, and slice fruits and vegetables, and meats, for the variety of meals we prepare for customers
  • Clean food stations and prep areas and sanitize equipment and kitchen utensils after closing to maintain proper hygiene
  • Understand recipe instructions, measurements, meal charts, and labels written in English and use all measuring tools properly
  • Adhere to COVID-19 safety protocol measures in all food preparation areas and follow all food safety guidelines in the kitchen workstations
  • Handle simple cooking tasks such as brewing coffee or tea, preparing soups and reducing sauces, and assisting others in the kitchen when necessary

Qualifications:
  • Ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays and be willing to pitch in working extra hours at the supervisor’s request
  • Basic familiarity with operating kitchen equipment
  • Understanding of how to read recipes, meal charts, measuring tools, and labels in English
  • You should possess the basic knowledge of food preparation and perform these duties with minimal supervision from the head cook or chef
  • Should be able to stand on your feet for long periods of time and also bend, pull, and lift 35-50 pounds
  • We'd like you to have your food handler's certification.
