What is the difference between Part Time Remote Process Simulation Engineer vs Part Time Remote Manufacturing Engineer?

AspectPart Time Remote Process Simulation EngineerPart Time Remote Manufacturing Engineer
CredentialsEngineering degree, simulation software proficiencyEngineering degree, manufacturing systems knowledge
Work EnvironmentRemote, computer-based, simulation toolsRemote or on-site, manufacturing plants or offices
Industry UsageManufacturing, automotive, aerospaceManufacturing, industrial production
Job FocusModeling and analyzing production processesDesigning and improving manufacturing workflows

The Part Time Remote Process Simulation Engineer primarily focuses on creating and analyzing digital models of manufacturing processes remotely, using simulation software. In contrast, the Part Time Remote Manufacturing Engineer is more involved in designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing systems, often with a mix of remote and on-site work. Both roles require engineering backgrounds but differ in their core responsibilities and work environments.

What are some common challenges faced by part-time remote process simulation engineers, and how can they be addressed?

Part-time remote process simulation engineers often face challenges related to communication and alignment with onsite teams, especially when working across different time zones or schedules. Staying updated with project changes and accessing necessary simulation software or data remotely can also be hurdles. To address these, it's important to establish clear communication protocols, use collaboration tools efficiently, and schedule regular check-ins with team members. Ensuring secure remote access to company resources and maintaining a structured work routine can further help in overcoming these challenges.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Remote Process Simulation Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Remote Process Simulation Engineer, you need a solid background in chemical or mechanical engineering, experience in process modeling, and a relevant engineering degree. Proficiency in simulation software such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or MATLAB, along with familiarity with remote collaboration tools, is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for managing projects independently and working with distributed teams. These skills ensure accurate simulation outcomes, efficient project delivery, and smooth collaboration in a flexible, remote work environment.

What is a Part Time Remote Process Simulation Engineer?

A Part Time Remote Process Simulation Engineer is a professional who uses computer models to analyze and optimize industrial or engineering processes, working fewer hours than a full-time position and performing their duties from a remote location. They typically use specialized simulation software to test process changes, troubleshoot issues, and support project development across various industries like manufacturing, energy, or chemical engineering. This role allows for flexible scheduling and often requires strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, as well as proficiency in simulation tools. Remote work means collaboration is usually done through digital platforms, making strong self-management and virtual teamwork essential.

Job description

Job Title: Forward Deployed Engineer, U.S. Government

Job Type: Full-time

Location: Hybrid - Washington, D.C.

The Role

Weโ€™re hiring an MTS to work on applied AI systems across research and production. This role spans model experimentation, infrastructure, and deployment in high-assurance, mission-critical environments, including forward-deployed work with strategic partners to ensure mission success.

What Youโ€™ll Work On

  1. Build and deploy agentic AI systems that support high-impact U.S. Government missions from prototype to production.
  2. Design and integrate LLM applications, including multi-agent systems, tool-using agents, RAG workflows, and human-in-the-loop autonomy.
  3. Work directly with government partners in forward-deployed environments to translate mission needs into technical systems.
  4. Build and maintain large-scale data curation, and evaluation pipelines for model training and improvement.
  5. Develop infrastructure for model inference, experimentation, evaluation, and deployment across frontier AI platforms.
  6. Build AI systems that turn mission data, models, and tools into real operational autonomy.
  7. Own systems across the full lifecycle, including discovery, architecture, implementation, deployment, reliability, security, and iteration.

What We're Looking For

  1. Able to operate independently in ambiguous, partner-facing settings with technical and operational ownership.
  2. Strong Python engineer with end-to-end ownership experience.
  3. Experience with LLMs and creating agentic systems.
  4. Built or maintained data pipelines / ML infrastructure.
  5. Familiar with RL workflows or simulation environments.
  6. Comfortable in high-security / high-reliability environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Active U.S. security clearance or eligibility and willingness to obtain one.
  2. Experience supporting U.S. Government, defense, intelligence, or national security missions.
  3. Prior experience at a startup, defense organization, Department of War, or government-focused technology company.
  4. Background operating in fast-moving startup environments, mission-critical government settings, or both.
