What is the difference between Part Time Remote Asic Physical Design Engineer vs Part Time Remote Digital IC Design Engineer?

AspectPart Time Remote Asic Physical Design EngineerPart Time Remote Digital IC Design Engineer
Required SkillsPhysical design, layout, verification, EDA toolsDigital logic design, RTL coding, simulation, synthesis
Work EnvironmentDesign implementation, layout, physical verificationRTL coding, functional verification, logic design
Industry UsageSemiconductor companies, chip design firmsSemiconductor, electronics, and integrated circuit companies

Both roles are common in the semiconductor industry and often require knowledge of EDA tools. The Physical Design Engineer focuses on the physical implementation of chips, while the Digital IC Design Engineer emphasizes digital logic design and RTL coding. They share similar work environments but differ in their core responsibilities.

What are part time remote ASIC Physical Design Engineers?

Part time remote ASIC Physical Design Engineers are professionals who work on designing the physical layout of Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) while working remotely and on a part-time schedule. Their responsibilities typically include tasks such as floorplanning, placement, routing, timing analysis, and verification of chip designs. These engineers use specialized Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools to ensure that the ASIC meets performance, power, and area requirements. Working remotely allows them to collaborate with global teams, while the part-time nature of the job offers flexibility in working hours.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Remote ASIC Physical Design Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Remote ASIC Physical Design Engineer, you need a solid understanding of digital design principles, experience with ASIC flow, and a degree in electrical or computer engineering. Proficiency with EDA tools such as Synopsys, Cadence, or Mentor Graphics, and familiarity with scripting languages like TCL or Python, is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to work independently make someone stand out in this role. These skills and qualities are essential for delivering high-quality designs, collaborating with distributed teams, and adhering to project timelines in a remote setting.

Job description

Job Title: Junior Architect / CAD Engineer (Vectorworks)

Job Type: Contractor

Location: Remote

Job Summary: In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leverage your knowledge of Vectorworks and CAD software to provide real-world architectural and design insights for AI training purposes.
  2. Review, analyze, and annotate architectural drawings and models to improve AI system performance.
  3. Collaborate with the customer’s team to ensure accurate and relevant data input regarding architectural workflows.
  4. Evaluate Building Information Modeling (BIM) content to ensure standards and best practices are met.
  5. Contribute feedback on design processes, drawing conventions, and project documentation as they relate to AI development.
  6. Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance AI models with up-to-date architectural expertise.
  7. Help identify gaps in system understanding and propose solutions rooted in industry experience.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Basic proficiency in Vectorworks for architectural drafting and design.
  2. Solid understanding of CAD principles and workflows in an architectural context.
  3. Familiarity with architectural design processes and project documentation.
  4. Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) for architecture projects.
  5. Detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical and observational skills.
  6. Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  7. Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable working independently in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Hands-on experience in architectural studios or similar environments using Vectorworks.
  2. Understanding of AI applications in design or architecture (a plus, but not required).
  3. Familiarity with other CAD or BIM platforms alongside Vectorworks.
