Job description
This position is part of the Department of Neurology Financial Support Unit. The purpose of this position is to coordinate the Research Administration activities of the department, including grants and contracts from inception through termination. Provide grants management, financial planning, reporting and accounting support for the Department pre-and post- award grants, contracts, and clinical trials and the faculty funding supporting research including Foundation and other discretionary sources of funding. Duties require experience in Oracle, Cognos, and other university information systems to perform expense and revenue review and corrective entries such as preparing Journal Entries or Labor Distribution adjustments, assisting Principal Investigators with proposal development and submittal, post-award reporting, document processing, and compliance. Responsibilities include knowledge of OHSU, federal/NIH and other regulatory and funding agency policies. Identifying problems or changing environments, recommending solutions, and communicating important information to Principle Investigators and Department personnel is essential. Functions as critical Central Administration team member in the development and implementation of a cohesive fiscal and administrative program to serve the Department's research missions. This individual will work closely with the Division and Department Administrators, Grants and Contracts Manager, and Department Principal Investigators to achieve position responsibilities and objectives.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree AND one year of grants and contracts administration experience, OR Three years of grants and contracts administration experience, OR Equivalent combination of training and experience.
- If one year of experience is not met, may start as a trainee position with the expectation of additional training to be completed within one year.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Must have excellent customer service skills. Skills in word processing, graphics, and database including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat required. Able to adapt to ever changing technology. Businesslike, excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with personnel at all levels; must be self-motivated. Must be reliable for deadlines and accuracy of work. Must have efficient and organized work habits, and be flexible to handle needs as they arise.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with major courses in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Certification from the Society of Research Administrators (CRA)
- Experience with OHSU policies and procedures preferred
- Experience using: InfoEd, MS Access -Intermediate, Cognos
May require overtime due to completion of grants at deadline. This is a fully remote position M-F during normal business hours. Must be able to work on a computer for 5-6 hours at a time. Heavy use of phones, personal computers, and OHSU computer programs. Work effectively as a part of a multidisciplinary team to utilize staff resources appropriately.
