What is a part-time qualitative researcher?

A part-time qualitative researcher is a professional who conducts research focused on understanding people's experiences, opinions, and behaviors using non-numerical data, such as interviews, focus groups, or observations, on a part-time basis. Unlike quantitative researchers, they analyze patterns and themes in textual or visual data rather than statistics. Part-time roles can be ideal for students, professionals with other commitments, or those seeking flexible work schedules while contributing to research projects in fields like social sciences, healthcare, marketing, or education.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Qualitative Researcher, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Qualitative Researcher, you need a background in social sciences or related fields, strong analytical skills, and experience with qualitative data collection methods such as interviews or focus groups. Familiarity with qualitative data analysis software like NVivo, ATLAS.ti, or MAXQDA is often required, along with knowledge of research ethics and protocols. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are valuable soft skills in this role.
