Part Time Project Management information

What is part time project management?

Part time project management involves overseeing and coordinating projects while working fewer hours than a standard full-time schedule. Part time project managers are responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring projects, but typically manage a smaller workload or number of projects. This role is ideal for organizations with limited project needs or professionals seeking work-life balance. Part time project managers use the same tools and methodologies as their full-time counterparts, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Flexibility and strong communication skills are key to success in this position.

How do part-time project managers balance multiple projects and communicate effectively with full-time team members?

Part-time project managers often juggle several projects simultaneously, requiring strong organizational skills and proactive communication. They typically rely on clear scheduling, regular status updates, and digital collaboration tools to stay aligned with full-time team members and stakeholders. Establishing set check-in times and leveraging project management software helps ensure everyone stays informed and progress remains on track. Open communication and setting expectations early are key strategies for success in a part-time project management role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time project manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Project Manager, you need strong organizational, leadership, and time management skills, often supported by a background in business or project management and experience leading teams. Familiarity with project management software like Asana, Trello, or Microsoft Project, and certifications such as PMP or CAPM, are commonly valued. Excellent communication, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities help you effectively coordinate tasks and stakeholders within limited hours. These skills ensure that projects stay on track and objectives are met efficiently, even within a part-time schedule.

ABOUT MAGENTA EXTERIOR SOLUTIONS

Magenta Exterior Solutions Inc. is a growing exterior cladding and siding contractor serving residential and commercial clients across the Ottawa region. We specialize in vinyl, fiber cement, engineered wood, metal cladding, and full building envelope solutions. Our team is hands-on, quality-driven, and building something worth being part of.

THE ROLE

We're looking for a Project Manager to take ownership of residential and commercial siding and exterior cladding projects from award through closeout. You'll be the point person between our clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal team - keeping jobs on schedule, on budget, and built right. This role is ideal for someone with 3-5 years of construction project management experience who wants to grow with a company that's scaling up

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Manage multiple residential and commercial siding and exterior cladding projects simultaneously, from contract execution through project closeout

Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans

Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and trades to ensure work is completed on time, within scope, and to quality standards

Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, enforce safety compliance, and address issues in real time

Manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, and all project documentation

Communicate proactively with clients, providing regular updates and managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle

Work closely with our estimating team during project handoff to ensure scope alignment and identify risks early

Track project costs and margins, flag variances, and implement corrective actions as needed

Lead project meetings and coordinate with internal teams to resolve issues efficiently

Ensure all work is performed in compliance with the Ontario Building Code and applicable regulations

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

3-5 years of experience in construction project management, preferably in siding, exterior cladding, roofing, or building envelope work

Strong understanding of residential and commercial construction methods and materials

Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades on active job sites

Proficiency with project management tools

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Excellent communication skills - you're comfortable dealing with clients, trades, and team members

Valid Ontario driver's license and reliable transportation

Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code is an asset

NICE TO HAVE

Experience specifically with vinyl siding, James Hardie fiber cement, or metal cladding systems

Familiarity with CCDC contract documents

PMP, Gold Seal, or CAPM certification

Estimating experience or background in exterior envelope scopes

WHAT WE OFFER

Competitive compensation based on experience

Health and dental benefits after a 3-month probationary period

A growing company with real opportunity to advance and shape your role

A team-first culture that's family oriented and values work-life balance

Hands-on involvement - you won't be buried in a cubicle
