Job Description
Responsible for managing the operation of a program or project, supervising employees, and providing oversight of and guidance to a team or area within a department.
Job Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to lead and coordinate industry engagement, research development, and strategic growth initiatives for the Texas State Center for Analytics and Data Science (TXST CADS). This role serves as the central liaison between the Center, industry partners, and faculty to advance collaborative research, workforce development, commercialization, and externally funded projects.
The position is responsible for initiating and cultivating industry research collaborations, workforce development partnerships, and external funding opportunities. This includes developing and managing individualized engagement plans for Industry Advisory Board members, coordinating one-on-one meetings and biannual board meetings, and maintaining consistent, strategic communication with existing and prospective partners, including Industry Fellows. In support of strategic growth, this position develops partnership and sponsorship strategies, identifies applied research and industry-funded project opportunities, and explores commercialization or technology transfer potential for analytics tools and datasets. The position provides research development support to CADS-affiliated faculty by disseminating relevant funding opportunities, tracking research submissions and awards, assisting with proposal development, coordinating internal review processes, and facilitating proposal logistics in collaboration with university research offices.
Additionally, the role supports annual reporting requirements for CADS and external sponsors, compliance with funding and institutional policies, major events and annual activities, and contributes to overall operational continuity. This position follows a hybrid work arrangement.
Core Responsibilities1. Industry Outreach & Communication
- Initiate and facilitate industry-faculty research collaborations, commercialization efforts, and external funding submissions
- Develop and advance industry workforce development partnerships
- Develop and manage individualized engagement plans for Industry Advisory Board members through one-on-one meetings and biannual Board meetings
- Maintain regular, strategic communication with existing and prospective partners, including Industry Fellows
- Promote and highlight industry partnerships through coordinated outreach and communication efforts
2. Strategic Growth
- Develop and implement strategies to cultivate new partnerships and sponsorships
- Identify and support applied research and industry-funded project opportunities
- Assess and advance applied analytics tools or datasets with potential for commercialization or technology transfer
3. Research Development & Faculty Support
- Disseminate relevant funding opportunities to CADS-affiliated faculty
- Track CADS-related research submissions, awards, and outcomes
Supporting Responsibilities
1. Research Development & Faculty Support
- Provide proposal development support to faculty
- Coordinate review processes for internal funding opportunities
- Support proposal logistics by connecting faculty with research administration colleagues (e.g., biosketches, budgets, compliance documentation, data management plans)
2. Reporting & Continuity Support
- Support completion of CADS and external sponsor annual reports
- Serve as the CADS point of contact for select CADS programs, e.g., micro-credentialing program development and implementation
