Position Title: Specimen Procurement Specialist / Collector Classification: Part-time and Full-time General Responsibilities • Instruct and assist at collection sites on proper sample collection procedures. • Order tests and organize specimens for laboratory testing, including data entry, container labeling, and verifying patient demographics. • Receive and perform initial inspection of specimens provided by patients. • Complete all required paperwork and electronic documentation accurately for laboratory processing. • Obtain patient demographics and insurance information as needed. • Maintain clear communication with managers, supervisors, and other team members. • Accurately fill out requisition order forms (paper or online). • Package and ship specimens to the laboratory or arrange for courier pickup. • Monitor and maintain inventory of collection supplies, ensuring readiness for daily operations. • Adhere to HIPAA and OSHA requirements for patient privacy and workplace safety. Key Duties • Ensure proper specimen stability and integrity during collection, handling, and transport. • Perform initial quality checks on specimens and resolve discrepancies. • Provide excellent customer service to patients, clinics, and providers. • Represent the organization professionally at all times. • Maintain a clean and organized work environment at the collection site.
