Description
Summary
The Associate of Engineering program host several camps throughout the summer. Camp Counselors will assist in preparing and running the camps. This position is intended for current JCC Engineering students, recent graduates of the JCC engineering programs, or current members of a FIRST FRC robotics team.
Knowledge & Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop the necessary knowledge with the camp equipment and procedures
  • Ensure safety of participants of the camp
  • Provide conflict resolution to campers as needed
  • Assist faculty with camp preparations
  • Organize camp equipment
  • Maintain safety of camp and camp participants
  • Repair faulty camp equipment when directed
  • Generate ideas that improve the safety, efficiency and overall effectiveness of camps
  • Take and maintain inventory of tools, equipment, hardware, etc
  • Provide technical assistance to campers
  • Assist faculty lab/camp projects as needed
  • Facilitate a challenging, yet collaborative, environment for the camp participants

Minimum & Preferred Qualifications
Qualifications
Education Minimum:
Applicants should have at least one year of college-level coursework in Engineering, Applied Engineering, or a related STEM field.
Experience Minimum:
Applicants should be current JCC students or JCC alumni

Reasoning Ability
  • Must have a strong work ethic and be self-motivated and able to operate with minimal supervision
  • Must have the highest standards of integrity, accuracy and attention to detail

Computer Skills
  • Must have basic computer skills and be comfortable with Microsoft Office 365
  • Prefer experience with 3D printing technology

  • Prefer experience with computer programming

Physical Demands
  • Must perform hands-on laboratory work, involving standing up for extended periods of time
  • Should be able to lift 30 lbs. comfortably
