Job description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Part-Time PACU Nurse to join our team on procedure days at our outpatient facility located in the Texas Medical Center. The PACU Nurse is responsible for the care and monitoring of patients recovering from sedation or anesthesia following surgical or interventional procedures. This role requires strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and a patient-centered approach.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and level of consciousness as they recover from anesthesia.

  • Assess, manage, and document post-anesthesia recovery status and pain levels.

  • Administer medications and provide post-procedure instructions to patients and families.

  • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and procedural staff to ensure safe and timely patient recovery and discharge.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed nursing documentation in the medical record.

  • Ensure patient safety and infection control standards are upheld.

  • Respond to emergency situations with appropriate interventions.


Qualifications:
  • Current RN license in the State of Texas, in good standing.

  • BLS and ACLS certifications required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in PACU, ICU, or ER preferred.

  • Strong IV skills and familiarity with post-anesthesia monitoring and protocols.

  • Excellent critical thinking, communication, and patient-care skills.
