A leading manufacturer in the Sycamore, IL area is hiring a full-time Quality Control Technician to make sure product is right before it ships. You will inspect parts against prints and customer specs from receiving through final shipment, catch defects on the floor, and document what you find so problems get fixed fast. This is a hands-on role for someone comfortable moving through a working plant, using inspection tools like calipers and micrometers, and reading blueprints. Strong performers here become the person the floor trusts to protect quality when it counts.

  • $22.36/hour, 1st Shift,ย union position after 90-day probationary period

  • Typical Hours: Mโ€“F, 5x10s, start time range from 5am-7am, dependent on needs

Overview

  • Perform receiving, in-process (WIP), and final inspections across fabrication, picking, packing, and shipping so product meets safety and quality standards before it ships
  • Run end-of-line inspections and audits to specified requirements, accurately and on schedule
  • Read company and customer prints and specifications and apply them as the inspection criteria
  • Document findings in clear, concise, unambiguous reports for the Quality Manager
  • Communicate quality problems professionally to internal teams and, when needed, externally
  • Support a working ISO 9001:2015 quality system

Preferred Skills / Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ years in a manufacturing/fabrication environment; basic exposure to welding, CNC, forming, assembly, coating, and/or warehousing
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints
  • Hands-on with basic inspection/metrology tools: calipers, micrometers, radius gauges, tape measure, set-up charts, templates
  • Mechanical aptitude and a genuine eye for abnormalities and detail
  • Comfortable with shop math: fractions, decimals, basic geometry and trigonometry
  • Experience in an ISO 9001:2015 environment (preferred); familiarity with internal auditing, PPAP, control plans, and PFMEA is a plus, not required
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint; prior ERP system use
  • Able to perform medium work โ€” lift up to 50 lbs (over 50 with a device or team lift), stand/walk, stoop, reach, repetitive motion in a plant environment
