Job description

The Part-time Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across the organization. This position is responsible for supporting weekly and bi-weekly payroll operation, maintaining accurate employee records, and partnering with management to resolve timekeeping and payroll-related matters.
The Payroll Specialist reports to the Payroll Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Accurately prepare weekly payroll using Paycom for 1,200 employees.
  2. Gather, review, and format payroll reports from multiple vendors and systems to maintain accurate employee records.
  3. Partner with store management to ensure accurate timekeeping and compliance with applicable contractual and payroll requirements.
  4. Handle special payments and off-cycle adjustments, including garnishment.
  5. Maintain data quality of Payroll system and collaborate with other departments across the company.
  6. Generate payroll reports for Managers to review.
  7. Support timely funding of 401k contributions, FSA, and HSA contributions.
  8. Other duties as assigned by the Payroll Manager or Director of HR Operations.

Education & Experience
  • Associate's degree in HR, accounting, business, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of multi-state, multi-employer payroll processing experience.
  • Preferably experience in retail, grocery, or union environments.
  • Proficiency in Paycom is beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of ERISA, federal, and state regulations impacting payroll and benefits programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills.

  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of protected information.
