Job description

Join Our Team as an Attorney at Axiom

We are seeking a Patent Litigation Counsel to join our team in support of leading clients across consumer packaged goods (CPG), industrial, manufacturing, and technology sectors. This role focuses on managing and advising on complex patent disputes, infringement matters, and intellectual property litigation strategy. You'll work closely with in-house legal teams to defend valuable patent portfolios, respond to infringement claims, and provide strategic guidance throughout all stages of patent disputes.

Responsibilities:
  • Advise clients on domestic and international patent infringement matters and litigation strategy.
  • Manage and respond to patent infringement claims, cease-and-desist letters, and licensing demands.
  • Defend clients against assertions by non-practicing entities (NPEs) and other patent enforcement actions.
  • Partner with outside counsel to develop litigation strategy, oversee case management, and control legal spend.
  • Conduct infringement, validity, and risk assessments to support business and legal decision-making.
  • Counsel business stakeholders on intellectual property risks associated with new products, technologies, and commercial initiatives.
  • Support dispute resolution efforts, including settlement negotiations, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, R&D, and executive teams to develop practical, business-focused legal solutions.
  • Monitor developments in patent law and advise clients on evolving litigation risks and industry trends.
Qualifications:
  • 4-10+ years of experience in patent litigation or intellectual property litigation.
  • Experience handling patent infringement disputes in federal courts, before the ITC, or in other domestic and international forums.
  • Strong experience responding to patent assertion entities (NPEs), cease-and-desist letters, and infringement allegations.
  • Experience managing outside counsel and complex litigation matters.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license to practice law.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience supporting consumer packaged goods (CPG), manufacturing, industrial, or technology companies.
  • Familiarity with cross-border or global patent litigation and international IP enforcement strategies.
  • Experience evaluating patent portfolios and advising on litigation risk and licensing strategies.
  • Ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice in a fast-paced in-house environment.
  • Experience supporting part-time or project-based legal engagements is a plus.
Compensation:

The estimated total compensation for full-time Axiom attorney roles is $104,500-325,000 per year and for non-attorney roles is $71,250-309,750 per year.ย Compensation decisions are based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.ย  Employees may be eligible for additional benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance; paid holidays and PTO; flexible work arrangements; and professional development opportunities and tools.
