Patent Attorney – Electrical & Computer Technologies
LA

A highly touted and established law firm seeks a Patent Attorney Associate with 3-6 years of experience to join its expanding patent group. The firm partners with leading global technology companies to position and protect innovation in fields ranging from hardware to software matters.

This can include Generative Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, cloud computing, wireless/5G, consumer electronics, data storage, and autonomous vehicles.

This is a dynamic opportunity to work in a collaborative, innovative team environment on high-level patent matters, including prosecution, client counseling, and standards-related technologies.



Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications

  • Draft responses to Office Actions and conduct Examiner interviews

  • Perform prior art, freedom-to-operate, and patentability analyses

  • Collaborate with inventors, in-house counsel, and technical teams

  • Participate in strategic portfolio development and post-grant counseling



Technology Areas

Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

  • Wireless telecommunications systems and communication networks

  • Electrical hardware and computer software

Compensation

Requirements

  • J.D. and admission to practice before the USPTO

  • 3-6 years of recent patent preparation and prosecution experience

  • Strong academic record with a technical degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or a closely related field

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented culture
