What is a part time lawyer?

A part time lawyer is a licensed attorney who works fewer hours than a typical full-time lawyer, often taking on a reduced caseload or flexible schedule. They may work for a law firm, corporation, government agency, or operate independently. Part time lawyers handle legal matters such as drafting documents, advising clients, and representing clients in court, but with a workload tailored to their availability. This arrangement can provide better work-life balance or allow lawyers to pursue other interests or commitments. Part time legal work is common in areas like family law, real estate, or consulting.

How does working as a part-time lawyer typically affect collaboration with full-time legal teams?

As a part-time lawyer, you may work flexible hours or on a project basis, which can sometimes make coordinating with full-time team members a challenge. However, most law firms and organizations use digital tools and regular team meetings to ensure part-time lawyers stay updated and integrated into ongoing cases.
