Job description

Location: Broadway Bakery
Reports to: Packaging/Distribution Lead
Classification: 22 PT Helper
Rate of Pay: Progressive scale up to $18.00 hour / based on experience
Hours: Sunday - Saturday, varied hours
Primary Objective
To help the Packaging/Distribution Department meet daily goals.
Nature and Scope
Primary emphasis in this position is to ensure consistent product quality and quantity to meet daily needs. Primary challenges are on product knowledge, sequence of workflow and packaging/distribution speed. This position requires knowledge of Packaging/Distribution Associate, product preparation, food safety regulations, ongoing social skills/verbal interaction, reading, walking, standing, moderate lifting, and operation of finishing and wrapping equipment. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. Assignments and work direction provided by Packaging/Distribution Lead or person in charge.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Assist with department needs
  • Answer Packaging/Distribution Department telephone calls promptly

Package and prepare bakery products for distribution
  • Slice product safely
  • Package finished bakery products
  • Properly label and distribute finished product
  • Follow safe food handling and preparation processes
  • Follow approved preparation and production guidelines
  • Ensure proper product quality and presentation

Clean Packaging/Distribution Department
  • Follow all safety, sanitation and food handling regulations
  • Assist with breaking down and cleaning equipment
  • Assist in cleaning department and maintaining conditions in the back room
  • Clean shelves, racking and cases as needed
  • Use personal protective devices (splash goggles, chemical-resistant gloves) as required

Comply with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies
  • Responsible for following and enforcing procedures outlines in the Food Safety Plan and any other programs that support the food safety, quality systems and other 3rd party audits
  • Ensure compliance with SQF standards, company policies, and government regulations
  • Support and comply with all quality management systems, continuous improvement programs, food safety, employee safety, and preventative maintenance program
  • Support and comply with GMP's

Follow all facility and department policies and procedures
Assist in the Production Departments when assigned
Perform other duties as assigned or delegated
Additional qualities
  • Bakery experience preferred
  • Reliable, punctual, honest and dependable
  • Precise, diligent and detail oriented

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
FREQUENT: 15% of the work shift or at least ten repetitions per work shift.
OCCASIONAL: Approximately less than 15% of the work shift or fewer than 10 repetitions per work shift.
