What is a part time orthopedic sales rep?

A Part Time Orthopedic Sales Rep is a professional who works with medical device companies to promote and sell orthopedic products, such as implants and surgical tools, to hospitals, clinics, and surgeons. Unlike full-time reps, part-time reps typically work fewer hours per week and may cover smaller territories or assist with specific accounts. Their responsibilities include building relationships with healthcare providers, supporting product demonstrations, and providing technical support during surgeries. This role requires a good understanding of orthopedic procedures and strong communication skills. Success in this position often leads to increased sales and better patient outcomes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time orthopedic sales rep?

To thrive as a Part Time Orthopedic Sales Rep, you need a strong understanding of orthopedic products, medical terminology, and sales techniques, often supported by a bachelor's degree and relevant sales experience. Familiarity with CRM software, inventory management systems, and product demonstration tools is common, and some roles may require certifications like Certified Orthopaedic Sales Professional (OSP). Outstanding interpersonal skills, resilience, and the ability to build relationships with healthcare professionals help set top performers apart. These skills and qualities are crucial for effectively promoting products, meeting sales targets, and providing value to both clients and employers in a competitive healthcare market.

How does a part time orthopedic sales rep typically balance their schedule between client visits and administrative tasks?

Part-time orthopedic sales reps often need to be highly organized to effectively balance in-person meetings with surgeons, hospital staff, or clinics, while also managing administrative responsibilities such as tracking orders, updating CRM systems, and following up on leads. Most reps structure their weeks by scheduling client visits during peak office hours and handling paperwork or virtual meetings in the early morning or late afternoon. Flexibility and strong time-management skills are essential, as urgent client needs or surgical case support can arise unexpectedly. Regular communication with the sales team and manager helps ensure that part-time reps stay aligned with sales goals and client expectations.

Job description

Vector Marketing is interviewing now for part time sales positions. Basic responsibilities include meeting with customers, selling our Cutco products, and placing any orders. Prior work or sales experience not required.

We provide flexible schedules for anyone looking to make extra income around classes, their full time jobs, travel plans, or family obligations.

Position Details

  • Paid Weekly - We offer guaranteed base pay that is not tied to sales, allowing reps to focus on providing excellent customer service rather than feeling pressured to make a sale. We also offer a performance-based commission structure that increases based on career sales performance — not length of service or annual resets. Representatives are paid a base (25.00 base-appt) or commission, whichever is higher that week. Even during slower weeks, reps are still paid for every qualified appointment they complete, regardless of sales results.
  • Solid Training – Reps are set up for success with our training program we have been running for over 40 years. Additional training is provided as they progress.
  • Flexible Schedules – Reps create a schedule that work best for them. Some work as much as possible, some only part time, and others are just looking to earn some extra cash around their busy schedule.
  • Location – Sales reps work locally after training, meetings and training are held in the office.
  • Advancement Opportunities - Sales reps who work here long term have an opportunity move along several different paths including management and career sales professional (even if they start part time with no experience).

Basic Requirements

  • Enjoy working with people
  • All ages 18+ or 17 and a high school graduate
  • Conditions apply
  • Able to interview within the week
  • Willing to learn and apply new skills

We welcome all applicants who have a positive attitude and who enjoy working with people.

If you think you would make a great fit for our team – fill out the contact information to find a location closest to you. A staff member will follow up about setting up a virtual interview with a manager. We encourage applicants of all ages and experience, as we do not discriminate on the basis of an applicant’s age.
