Job description

Student Work - Office of Advancement (Event Support)
Job no: 50000311
Work type: Part time
Location: Virginia Beach

Responsibilities:
  • Assist Office of Advancement and Office of Alumni Engagement with event logistics and support as needed. This will include but is not limited to set-up, tear-down, and clean-up for events as well as greeting and checking in guests. This position may require periodic adjustment to the weekly work schedule to accommodate support for special events. Some events may also require working after regular business and/or on weekends.
  • Assist the Office Manager & Gift Administrator with day-to-day functions of the Advancement Office, which includes but is not limited to general clerical duties such as data entry, file maintenance, preparing and mailing materials to donors and/or alumni.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Must be comfortable interacting with people, including VIP guests, donors and alumni.
  • May require occasional physical labor to move boxes and event materials. Must be able to lift 10 pounds or more.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of database management or willingness to learn.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated, with the willingness and ability to learn new technologies.
  • Exhibit professionalism by arriving at work on time, working scheduled hours, demonstrating a strong work ethic, and maintaining a positive, helpful attitude.
  • Maintain high-level of confidentiality while working in the Advancement Office, especially as it relates to donors and alumni.
  • Able to work with limited supervision once tasks are assigned and instructions are provided.

Salary: $12.77 - $14.00 per hour
