Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The radiation therapist must engage in programs designed to continue their professional education. Their New York State License must be renewed bi-annually in the practice of Radiotherapy by the New York State Department of Health.  The therapist must promote high standards of patient care as stated by the ARRTand maintain membership with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the American Society of Radiological Technologists.  Their original New York State liciense, registration with the ARRT and membership in the ASRT must be provided annually upon their evaluation. The therapist will be evaluated annually in their competency by the Associate Director of Radiation Therapy.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Performance of all aspects of Radiation Therapy within the limits of professional licensure and accreditations and as part of a departmental team.
  • The RTT will maintain and monitor all equipment in their department including but not limited to the CT Simulator, LINAC, Laser systems, IT systems, patient positioning equipment, and patient care equipment.
  • The RTT will maintain a safe and professional atmosphere with physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, nurses and administrative staff.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma required. 
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Maintain current NYSDOH Radiation Therapy Technologist License.
  • Maintain current ARRT License.

As part of employment at Southampton Hospital, there may be occasions when travel to other locations is needed to support operational needs.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience.

Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital's Employee Health Services*

  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer. 

*The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.
