Job Responsibilities:
Program Development design and conduct the program consistent with the community's needs, the mission(s) of the Sponsoring Institution, and the program's mission(s). https://www.acgme.org/Portals/0/PFAssets/ProgramResources/PDGuideFellowships.pdf
a. Develop an educational curriculum including didactics, clinical rotations, mentorship program and clinical simulation
b. Provide competency-based goals and objectives for each clinical site in keeping with the ACGME guidelines
c. Develop an evaluation method to review Fellows clinical performance and review appropriateness of clinical rotations and preceptors
d. Identify, council and/or provide remediation for Fellows
e. Perform and document a formal, systematic annual program evaluation of the educational curriculum that includes a review of Fellows performance, faculty development, and program quality including a confidential, written evaluation of the program by APP Fellows and faculty
Program Operations/Administration
a. Oversee and ensure the quality of didactic and clinical education
b. Recruit and assemble a Fellowship team including program administrator, didactic coordinator, clinical coordinator, and simulation coordinator.
c. Coordinate and participate in the screening and interview process for program candidates.
d. Manage clinical scheduling and preceptor availability
e. In coordination with the Program administrator develop and document a formal budget for the program
f. Ensure the programs compliance with the Sponsoring Institutions policies and procedures related to grievances and due process
g. Ensure the programs compliance with the Sponsoring Institutions policies and procedures for due process when action is taken to suspend or dismiss, not to promote, or not to renew the appointment of a fellow
h. Ensure the programs compliance with the Sponsoring Institutions policies and procedures on employment and non-discrimination
Faculty Development
a. Administer and maintain a learning environment conducive to educating the fellows in each of the ACGME Competency domains b. Develop and oversee a process to evaluate faculty prior to approval as program faculty members for participation in the fellowship program education
c. Responsible for approving program faculty members for participation in the fellowship program education at all sites
d. Responsible for removing program faculty members from participation in the fellowship program education at all sites
e. Responsible for ensuring faculty receive preceptor education and obtain yearly CME (Continuing Medical Education) Minimum Qualifications:
a. A minimum of 3 years clinical experience
b. A minimum of 2 years educational leadership experience and/or membership on education committees and teams.
c. In good standing with clinical team and upholding clinical responsibilities.
d. Yearly evaluations should all be in good standing with Emory Healthcare.
Educational Level: Masters Degree or higher
Licensure: Current Georgia licensure as a Physician Assistant/Associate or Advanced Practiced Registered Nurse
Certifications: Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body, or Certified as a Physician's Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) PALS, BLS, or ACLS may be required in some areas.
