How much do part time nursing assistant jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 18, 2026, the average yearly pay for part time nursing assistant in the United States is $37,838.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $31,500.00 and $41,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is a Part Time Nursing Assistant job?

A Part Time Nursing Assistant provides basic patient care and support under the supervision of nurses and medical staff, typically working fewer hours than full-time employees. Responsibilities may include assisting with daily activities like bathing, feeding, and mobility, as well as measuring vital signs and documenting patient information. This role is common in hospitals, nursing homes, and home healthcare settings, offering flexibility for those balancing other commitments.

What is the highest paid nursing assistant?

The highest paid nursing assistants typically work in specialized settings such as hospitals or long-term care facilities, with salaries reaching above $35,000 annually in some regions. Factors like experience, certifications, and geographic location can influence earning potential, but overall, nursing assistants generally earn less than registered nurses or licensed practical nurses.

What are the typical work hours and shift patterns for a Part Time Nursing Assistant?

Part Time Nursing Assistants often work flexible schedules that may include evenings, weekends, or overnight shifts, depending on the needs of the healthcare facility. Shifts are typically 4 to 8 hours long, allowing for rotation through various times of day to support patient care at all hours. This flexibility makes it easier to balance work with school, family, or other commitments. Team collaboration is important, as you’ll often communicate with full-time staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Part Time Nursing Assistant position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Nursing Assistant, you need basic patient care knowledge, strong observation skills, and typically a high school diploma or CNA certification. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and standard clinical equipment is often required. Compassion, reliability, and excellent communication help set outstanding nursing assistants apart. These strengths ensure quality care, patient safety, and effective teamwork in healthcare environments.

Why do so many CNAs quit?

Many CNAs quit due to low pay, physically and emotionally demanding work, and limited opportunities for advancement. The job often involves long shifts, high stress, and exposure to challenging patient situations, which can lead to burnout and turnover.

Can a CNA make $1000 a week?

A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) typically earns between $10 and $20 per hour, so making $1000 a week would require working approximately 50 to 100 hours, which is above standard full-time hours. Overtime, shift differentials, or working in high-demand facilities may increase earnings, but consistently earning $1000 weekly is uncommon for most CNAs without additional factors such as overtime or multiple jobs.

What side hustles can I do as a nurse?

As a part-time nursing assistant, you can pursue side hustles such as providing private caregiving, offering health coaching, or working as a medical scribe. These roles often require basic healthcare knowledge, certification, and flexible scheduling to complement your primary job.
