Part-Time Nurse Supervisor – Prenatal Services

Location: Clinton, CT
Schedule: Part-Time (24 hours/week)

  • Two days/week as Nurse Supervisor

  • One day/week providing direct prenatal nursing care

  • Occasional evenings and weekends as needed

Compensation: $51,188–$57,408 annually (approximately $41–$46/hour equivalent), based on experience and education

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve in a unique hybrid leadership and clinical role supporting a busy outpatient women's health practice. This position combines nurse supervision with hands-on prenatal nursing care, making it an excellent opportunity for a nurse leader who enjoys mentoring staff while remaining actively involved in patient care.

The Nurse Supervisor provides oversight of daily clinical operations, supports nursing staff, and partners with regional leadership to ensure efficient, high-quality care for prenatal patients.

ResponsibilitiesLeadership Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support Registered Nurses, LPNs, and Medical Assistants.

  • Assist with daily clinical operations, staffing, workflow, and patient flow.

  • Recruit, onboard, mentor, coach, and evaluate clinical staff.

  • Ensure compliance with nursing standards, clinical policies, and regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate staff orientation, training, and continuing education.

  • Support quality improvement initiatives and operational enhancements.

  • Monitor clinical supplies, equipment, and inventory.

  • Serve as a clinical resource for staff and assist with problem-solving and escalation of patient care concerns.

  • Partner with regional nursing leadership on departmental initiatives and performance improvement.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care for prenatal and obstetric patients one day per week.

  • Perform patient triage by phone and in person.

  • Coordinate care for prenatal patients throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period.

  • Provide patient education regarding pregnancy, medications, prenatal testing, and overall maternal health.

  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments.

  • Perform prenatal nursing visits, including patient assessments, education, and follow-up care.

  • Administer medications, immunizations, and injections in accordance with provider orders.

  • Perform non-stress tests (NSTs) and monitor maternal and fetal well-being.

  • Coordinate referrals, specialty care, and follow-up after hospitalizations or emergency department visits.

  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records and clinical documentation.

  • Support infection prevention standards and maintain a safe clinical environment.

QualificationsRequired
  • Active Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

  • Current BLS/CPR certification.

  • Previous experience as a Nurse Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or other clinical leadership role.

  • Experience working in Women's Health, OB/GYN, Prenatal Care, or Maternal Health.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with direct patient care.

Preferred
  • Master's degree in Nursing or related field.

  • Two or more years of outpatient or ambulatory nursing experience.

  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR).

  • Experience performing prenatal assessments and non-stress testing (NSTs).

  • Bilingual skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
