MANTECH seeks a motivated, career- and customer-oriented Jr Data Analyst to join our innovative team in Ashburn, VA. This is a part time hybrid position with 2-3 days onsite a week.

Each day U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) oversees the massive flow of people, capital, and products that enter and depart the United States via air, land, sea, and cyberspace. The volume and complexity of both physical and virtual border crossings require the application of "big data" solutions to promote efficient trade and travel. These solutions provide CBP personnel with additional tools to evaluate potential threats from legitimate trade and travel.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Help maintain existing dashboards and generate recurring reports under the guidance of senior analysts.
  • Perform basic data validation and cleaning tasks to ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting.
  • Assist in documenting data sources, query logic, and reporting processes to ensure team knowledge sharing.
  • Identify, review, and evaluate large volumes of sensitive and complex intelligence data pertaining to CBP initiatives.
  • Collaborate with intel analysts, enterprise/application architects, database architects, data scientists, and mission stakeholders.
  • Work closely with team members to understand data requirements and provide support for ad-hoc requests and actively participate in training and mentorship opportunities to build proficiency in agency data tools and methodologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • AS and 4-13 years or BS and 2+ years or MS and 0-5 years or PHD and 0-3 years in Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Statistics or Mathematics.
  • Coursework related and/or prior internship related to data analytics.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and a strong interest in data management. Familiarity with Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs) is required.
  • Basic understanding of scripting languages (e.g., Python or R).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and communicate progress clearly to team members.
  • A proactive attitude toward learning new software, tools, and agency-specific data protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Understanding of software engineering best practices (Git, CI/CD).
  • Experience working in law enforcement or classified intelligence analysis environment.
  • Experience working within an Agile development environment.  

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain DHS CBP suitability prior to starting this position.

Physical Requirements:

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with coworkers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.

The projected compensation range for this position is $83,300.00-$139,800.00.
