Part Time Neuroimaging Data Analyst information

What is a part time neuroimaging data analyst?

Part time neuroimaging data analysts are professionals who work with brain imaging data, such as MRI or fMRI scans, on a part-time basis. They are responsible for processing, analyzing, and interpreting neuroimaging datasets to support research or clinical projects. Their duties often include data cleaning, statistical analysis, visualization, and sometimes assisting in the design of experiments. These analysts may work in academic, medical, or research settings, and typically possess a background in neuroscience, psychology, computer science, or a related field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time neuroimaging data analyst?

To excel as a Part Time Neuroimaging Data Analyst, you need a background in neuroscience, psychology, or a related field, along with experience in data analysis and neuroimaging methods. Familiarity with neuroimaging software (such as SPM, FSL, or AFNI), programming languages like Python or MATLAB, and statistical tools is typically required. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are essential soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure accurate data interpretation, efficient workflow, and clear collaboration with multidisciplinary research teams.

What are some common challenges faced by part time neuroimaging data analysts, and how can they be addressed?

Part-time neuroimaging data analysts often encounter challenges such as managing large datasets with limited hours and staying current with rapidly evolving imaging analysis software. Effective time management and clear communication with team members are essential to prioritize tasks and ensure smooth project progress. Regularly attending lab meetings and maintaining thorough documentation can help part-time analysts stay aligned with the team's goals and contribute meaningfully, even with a reduced schedule.

This internship offers the opportunity to contribute to multiple human research studies and gain hands-on exposure to a wide range of research methods and technologies. Our studies collect rich, multimodal data including overnight EEG recordings, wearable-derived biosignals such as physical activity and heart rate, cognitive and neuropsychological assessments, clinical and self-report measures, bioassays, and multimodal MRI. Interns will work alongside an interdisciplinary research team and gain practical experience across different stages of clinical and translational sleep research. The position is particularly well suited for someone interested in gaining broad research experience while contributing to studies with applications to human health and emerging health technologies.
The internship will be on-site in our Menlo Park, CA office. This is a part-time year round role, 10-20 hours per week. Candidates must be able to work overnight shifts.
