What does a Part Time Network Firewall Engineer do?

A Part Time Network Firewall Engineer is responsible for configuring, managing, and monitoring firewalls to ensure the security of an organization's network on a part-time basis. They assess network traffic, implement firewall policies, troubleshoot security issues, and respond to potential threats. This role often involves working with IT staff to maintain compliance with security standards and may include providing recommendations for network improvements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Network Firewall Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Network Firewall Engineer, you need a solid understanding of network protocols, firewall configuration, and cybersecurity principles, often backed by a degree in information technology or a related field. Familiarity with firewall platforms like Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, or Fortinet, as well as certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or Cisco CCNP Security, is typically required.
