Job description

Who we are

Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Central Ohio, we’re a privately-owned, independent healthcare navigation organization. We believe that no one should have to navigate the cost and complexity of healthcare alone, and we’re on a mission to make healthcare simpler and more effective for our millions of members. Our big-hearted, tech-savvy team fights to ensure that our members get the care they need, when they need it, at the most affordable cost – that’s why we call ourselves Healthcare Warriors®.

We’re committed to building diverse and inclusive teams – more than 2,000 of us and counting – so if you’re excited about this position, we encourage you to apply – even if your experience doesn’t match every requirement.

About the role

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure with a focus on Arista switching, spine-leaf data center architecture, Arista CloudVision, Palo Alto firewalls, and Palo Alto Strata Cloud Manager. This role supports network availability, security, performance, and scalability across data center, campus, cloud-connected, and remote-access environments.

The ideal candidate has strong routing, switching, firewall, and automation experience, along with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues, document solutions, and work with security, infrastructure, cloud, and service desk teams.

Location: This position is located at our Dublin, OH campus with hybrid flexibility.

What you’ll do (Essential Responsibilities)

  • Design, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Arista switches in campus and data center environments.
  • Support spine-leaf network architecture, including leaf/spine connectivity, MLAG, VLANs, VRFs, routing, and high-availability designs.
  • Manage network infrastructure using Arista CloudVision, including configuration compliance, change control, image upgrades, telemetry, and network visibility.
  • Configure and support Palo Alto firewalls, including security policies, NAT, App-ID, User-ID, URL filtering, threat prevention, VPN, and logging.
  • Manage firewall policy and configuration using Palo Alto Strata Cloud Manager.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues across switching, routing, firewall, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and application traffic flows.
  • Support BGP, OSPF, static routing, route filtering, redistribution, and network failover designs.
  • Assist with firewall migrations, policy cleanups, network segmentation, and data center connectivity projects.
  • Monitor network health, performance, and availability using CloudVision, firewall logs, and other monitoring platforms.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, standards, implementation plans, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in change management processes, including risk analysis, backout planning, implementation steps, and post-change validation.
  • Work with vendors and support teams to resolve hardware, software, circuit, and platform-related issues.
  • Support incident response by isolating whether issues are network, firewall, endpoint, application, or authentication related.
  • Provide escalation support for service desk and infrastructure teams.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring (Qualifications)

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: 3+ years of hands-on network engineering experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Arista EOS switching.
  • Experience supporting spine-leaf data center architecture.
  • Experience with Arista CloudVision for network management, compliance, telemetry, and change control.
  • Strong knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts, including VLANs, VXLAN/EVPN, MLAG, STP, VRFs, BGP, OSPF, static routing, route maps, prefix lists, and ACLs.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Experience with Palo Alto security features, including security policy, NAT policy, App-ID, User-ID, URL filtering, threat prevention, GlobalProtect VPN, IPsec VPN, logging, and traffic analysis.
  • Experience using Palo Alto Strata Cloud Manager or Panorama to manage firewall policies and configurations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills using packet captures, logs, routing tables, session tables, and CLI commands.
  • Ability to document network designs, standards, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Experience participating in enterprise change management processes.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to technical and non-technical teams.
  • A high degree of personal accountability and trustworthiness, a commitment to working within Quantum Health’s policies, values and ethics, and to protecting the sensitive data entrusted to us.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with VXLAN/EVPN in an Arista environment.
  • Experience with Prisma Access, GlobalProtect, or cloud-delivered security platforms.
  • Experience with network automation or scripting using Python, Ansible, or APIs.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as CloudVision, LibreNMS, Grafana, PRTG, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with data center migrations, firewall migrations, or network modernization projects.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, RADIUS, SAML, and certificate-based authentication.
  • Familiarity with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow or Jira.
  • Industry certifications such as Palo Alto PCNSA or PCNSE, Arista ACE, CCNA, CCNP, Network+, or Security+.
  • Experience in enterprise, healthcare, financial, retail, or large campus/data center environments is a plus.
