Job description

The Toddler Coordinator is responsible for the successful operation of the Toddler ministry. This includes: overseeing virtual or in-person toddler programming, providing a safe and welcoming environment in all toddler areas, following all of MBC’s policies and procedures, recruiting, training and investing in preschool volunteers. The Toddler Coordinator will influence the children to fully embrace Jesus Christ as their personal Savior in support of McLean Bible Church’s mission. The Toddler Coordinator will customize the toddler curriculum and provides all needed supplies. The Toddler Coordinator will encourage and support parents in discipling their children to be followers of Jesus Christ.

This is a part-time position at 20 hours per week.

Duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions)

The following items describe some of the ways this individual will accomplish this task:

  • Living an exemplary Christian life by pursuing devotions, Scripture memory, and opportunities to share his or her faith
  • Model the character of Christ to all employees, volunteers and congregants
  • A passion for children ministry and to see families grow in their faith together
  • Will work to implement initiatives of the Early Childhood Lead & Kid’s Quest Director within the Toddler environments.
  • Will communicate concerns, needs, ideas and issues to the Kid’s Quest Director and Early Childhood Lead for approval and input.
  • Oversee virtual or in-person toddler programming for ages 18 mos.- 3 yr. olds:
    • Virtual
      • Customize weekly curriculum to fit the virtual environment, such as create engaging, age-appropriate videos or conduct brief zoom calls for preschoolers
      • Help provide additional biblical resources to parents with toddler aged children for home discipleship
      • Research and/or create additional resources to engage toddlers in God’s Word through social media
    • In-person:
      • Ensure a safe, professional and welcoming environment of all toddler areas
      • Organize, clean and creatively improve the toddler classrooms and large group activities.
      • Take inventory of all toddler supplies to help maintain well-equipped rooms
      • Edit weekly lesson guide and prepare supplies for the Sunday toddler programming
      • Coordinate volunteer coverage for Sundays for all toddler rooms and roles
      • Lead prayer huddle for all toddler volunteers on Sundays before each service OR join in assisting with a combined Nursery, Toddler and Preschool EC volunteer prayer huddle
      • Meet key volunteers on a regular basis outside of Sunday programming
      • Conduct Sunday toddler programming with Team Leader Volunteers’ help and oversee set-up and close-down process of respected areas
      • Provide support to volunteers, children and parents to abide with all MBC/Kid’s Quest policies & procedures and address any concerns with Kid’s Quest Director and Early Childhood Lead
  • Recruit, train and develop volunteers
    • Demonstrate a care/grow/disciple approach to all assigned volunteers
    • Train Team Leads to be able to oversee area.
    • Recruit and train toddler volunteers for various roles and provide on-going support
    • Help provide input for needed edits in the volunteer orientation/training materials as needed
    • Communicate with Kid’s Quest Director, Early Childhood Lead, and toddler volunteers via weekly updates, including: lesson plan, announcements, devotional, Sunday schedule etc.
    • Maintain volunteer requirements, assignments and schedule in our database (PCO and
    • Model and encourage all toddler volunteers to build relationship with parents and children
  • Attend events and meetings
    • Attend regular ministry meetings (Kid’s Quest, All-Staff etc.)
    • Assist with Kid’s Quest/NextGen/Family special events throughout the year
    • Involvement in overall Kid’s Quest/NextGen ministry initiatives
    • Willingness to support other team members with special projects
  • Other Duties as assigned by the Director of Kid’s Quest and Early Childhood Lead


Qualifications

  • Experience within Children’s Ministries or Family Ministries preferred
  • Understanding of the developmental needs of children of this age and the ability to customize learning environments and teaching materials with this knowledge
  • Experience in recruiting, motivating, equipping, and developing volunteers preferred
  • Competency with basic computer software (Excel, Word, Power Point etc.), willingness to learn new software systems (Ministry Platform, Planning Center, others)
  • Great organizational skills, people skills, including flexibility and patience
  • Great communication, problem solving and conflict management skills
  • Ability to follow directions of Kid’s Quest Director and Early Childhood Lead and communicate issues and concerns constructively
  • Reliable, team player, teachable, and professional in all areas of conduct
  • Has demonstrated life and conduct consistent with MBC’s Vision and Values
  • First Aid and CPR certified preferred
  • Approved electronic background check and fingerprint check.
  • Have a servant’s heart towards parents and children
  • Has a familiarity with the Bible and able to teach children about Christian faith
  • Passion for serving the church.

Working conditions
