Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
This is a temporary, two-semester appointment. Reapplication is required for continued employment, and candidates must undergo full application process. The Part-Time Intern, Social Media and Digital Marketing, University Park will provide support to the College Relations department, primarily working closely with the Digital Marketing/Social Media Manager. This role will offer valuable hands-on experience in digital marketing, focusing on social media content creation and management. The intern will contribute to to the department's overall goals by assisting with various tasks related to social media content planning, outreach, and marketing.
This internship offers a unique opportunity for students interested in digital marketing and social media to gain practical experience and develop valuable skills. The intern will work closely with experienced professionals and contribute to the department's success.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Assists with managing the social media calendar to ensure timely and relevant content delivery
  • Acts as a communications liaison with the Mane Squad student content creator program, scheduling meetings, organizing files, and coordinating correspondence
  • Contributes to posting approved content onto our various platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) in a timely and engaging manner
  • Collaborates with our publications lead on gathering newsworthy content to keep up with campus news and ensure our social media presence is informative and relevant
  • Assists with internal marketing and events
  • Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
    • Strong understanding of social media platforms: Proficiency in using platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: Ability to craft engaging and informative content
    • Creative and innovative thinking: Capacity to generate fresh and interesting ideas
    • Knowledge of social media analytics: Understanding of tools like Google Analytics, Monday, or Facebook Meta Business Suite to track and analyze performance
    • Basic graphic design skills: Familiarity with tools like Canva or Adobe Photoshop is a plus
    • Understanding of SEO and content marketing: Knowledge of optimizing content for search engines and attracting the target audience
    • Manages and tracks office administrative duties, creating and maintaining clear systems for documentation and task organization.
    PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
    The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
    WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
    • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
    • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
    • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Must be enrolled at LSC-University Park as a student
    • Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
    • Must maintain good academic and disciplinary standing
    Salary
    Hourly Pay Rate is $16.33.
