General Description
SUNY Niagara is seeking candidates for part-time Nursing Simulation Lab Instructor in our Nursing & Allied Health Division.
The Instructor will integrate simulation-based learning into the nursing curriculum, develop simulation scenarios that replicate real-world patient care situations, and provide expertise in clinical education. This position will also oversee the preparation, maintenance, inventory and operation of nursing simulation equipment and supplies.
Additional responsibilities include setting up computerized scenarios, providing technical support for faculty, maintaining simulation equipment, coordination of learning experiences in the simulation labs, and participation in departmental activities.
The work schedule is once a week on Friday's from 6:30am - 3pm on the college's main campus located in Sanborn, NY. The start date is in January for the Spring 2025 semester
Typical Work Activities
  • Sets up computerized scenarios, simulators and other required equipment for scheduled labs
  • Design, plan, and implement simulation scenarios that align with the nursing curriculum and learning outcomes.
  • Operate and maintain high-fidelity simulation equipment, mannequins, and software.
  • Coordinate the general operation of the simulation laboratory to provide a wide of patient simulation experiences
  • Coordinate simulation lab schedules and learning activities with nursing faculty.
  • Oversee the regular maintenance and repair of simulation equipment
  • Teach nursing concepts through simulation in collaboration with other faculty members.
  • Facilitate student learning by creating realistic, engaging, and safe simulation experiences
  • Orients faculty and students to simulation equipment and provides ongoing technical assistance,
  • Maintains the simulation labs. Maintains security in the simulation lab area,
  • Maintains simulators and lab equipment in operational state. Schedules regular maintenance with suppliers,
  • Coordinates learning activities related to use and operation of resources and equipment.
  • Evaluate students based on performance in college laboratory settings.
  • Maintain rosters and reports of student grades as required by the college.
  • Provide curricular input through participation in team planning sessions as scheduled.
  • Attend professional workshops or continuing education program pertinent to area of expertise or self development.
  • Compile data and statistics related to student success in the simulation lab.
  • Other duties as Assigned by the AVP of Nursing Physical & Allied Health.

Required Qualifications
โ€ข Bachelors of Science degree with a major in Nursing and enrolled in a Master's of Science Nursing program showing progression
โ€ข Registered Nurse license in New York State
โ€ข Experience with high fidelity medical simulation equipment
Desirable Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Nursing or doctoral degree
  • Previous teaching experience preferably at a community college
  • Experience maintaining Laerdal simulation lab equipment;
  • Experience with programming scenario applications for simulation; r
  • Recent experience (within previous 5 years) in acute medical/surgical area;
