Medical Assistant Job Posting – Capitol Urology

Location: Columbia, SC

Schedule: Part-time, Tuesday-Thursday 6:30am-1:00pm, Friday 6:30am-12:00pm

Start Date: Immediate (Trained by 08/20/26 preferred)


Position Overview


Capitol Urology is seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our small, patient-centered team. This position offers the opportunity to be cross-trained across both clinical and administrative functions, rotating between front desk and back office responsibilities. We are moving quickly—our current medical assistant is relocating, and we need someone who can begin training in early August.
Clinical Responsibilities


• Perform phlebotomy and prepare specimens to be sent to outside labs; record lab results in EMR
• Conduct and assist with office procedures including bladder scans, urinalysis, biopsies, and vasectomies
• Prep patients for exams and in-office procedures
• Review patient charts to ensure test results and documentation are complete
• Clean and sterilize instruments and prepare surgical equipment
• Provide patient education, including pre- and post-op instructions
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with healthcare protocols
Administrative Responsibilities


• Assist with patient registration, check-in/check-out, and scheduling
• Manage referrals and prior authorizations
• Answer phones and respond to emails professionally and promptly
• Prepare, clean, and stock exam rooms
• Manage medical supply inventory and place orders with approval from the office manager
Requirements


• At least one year of professional experience as a Medical Assistant
• Ability to work independently while following clinical protocols
• Friendly, approachable demeanor with excellent verbal communication
• Comfortable using EMR systems and technology for charting, labs, and scheduling
• Strong phone etiquette and customer service skills
• Willingness to work closely with a small, family-like team
