Your Opportunity
We're looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join Stantec's Buildings practice, supporting the planning, design, and delivery of mechanical building systems across a range of complex projects. In this role, you will provide technical leadership, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to high-quality, sustainable design solutions while mentoring junior staff and supporting project execution.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical engineering and design on projects and serve as the engineer of record;
  • Provide QAQC services in alignment with firm Quality Process Manual;
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Design Managers/Project Engineers for deliverables and Basis of Design;
  • Oversee load calculations, systems design, cross-discipline coordination, and signing and sealing of contract documents;
  • Conduct LCCA Analysis
  • Mentor junior engineers and participating in in-house continuing education programs;
  • Coordinate with Department Head and Focus Leads for resource allocation;
  • Manage Construction Administration phase of a project including submittal review, RFI responses, and site visit proficiency;
  • Strong working knowledge of Revit, including Revit Schedules and sequences of operation;
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Technical writing experience and proficiency;
  • Proficiency in MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Proficiency in PDF tools such as Bluebeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat
  • Proficiency in energy modeling using a IESVE or other current DOE-2 modelling software (ASHRAE 140 Compliant)
  • Knowledge in scope definition, design schedule management, coordination with other disciplines, design document creation, and quality reviews;
  • Budget tracking throughout design;
  • RFP scope definition and resource estimation;
  • Perform engineering studies for highly technical clients whose details include but are not limited to phased system loading, payback analysis, and knowledge of industry trends;
  • Technical writing for engineering studies, Basis of Design documents, Sequence of Operations documents, and narratives for non-technical audiences explaining engineering concepts to facilitate decision-making;
  • Leading a team of Engineers and Designers on multiple projects;

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • 10 or more years of engineering experience in industrial design and construction industry with a current Professional Engineers license in the U.S.
  • LEED AP preferred

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
