If so, Core Manufacturing (CM) has opportunities for you to help coordinate and oversee core production activities as well as help develop and qualify the manufacturing processes of tomorrow. CM engineers work with a wide range of stakeholders to solve complex real-world problems that are encountered during the manufacturing process, regularly balancing quality with cost/schedule. CM engineers also regularly team with vendor engineers to develop improved and more efficient manufacturing processes with a focus on improved manufacturing margin, improved performance, reduced cost, and/or reduced span.

Preparing and reviewing documentation to formalize recommendations and adjudicate product acceptability is expected of CM engineers as well as several project management functions such as planning, cost estimating, subcontract management, and management of budgets across multiple organizations. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations.
