Position Summary

The Part-Time Facilities Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and organized environment for our team. This role focuses on the routine cleaning of administrative offices, common areas, restrooms, and kitchen facilities. Because this is a casual, variable-hour position, scheduling will be determined on an intermittent, as-needed basis (typically two days per week).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Office & Common Areas: Dust surfaces, wipe down desks, vacuum carpets, sweep/mop hard floors, and empty trash and recycling bins.
  • Kitchen & Breakrooms: Clean and sanitize countertops, sinks, tables, and the exterior of appliances (refrigerator, microwave). Restock paper towels and dish soap.
  • Restrooms: Thoroughly clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors. Restock essential supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap).
  • Lab Peripheral Areas: Perform basic sweeping and trash removal in non-hazardous, designated peripheral areas of the lab as directed.
  • Safety & Compliance: Use all cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and in accordance with manufacturer instructions. Report any maintenance issues or supply shortages to management.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Prior experience in commercial, residential, or office cleaning is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high sanitary standards.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds regularly throughout a shift.
  • Exposure to standard commercial cleaning chemicals (protective gloves provided).
