Who We Are

The USTA/Mid-Atlantic Foundation (โ€œUSTA/Mid-Atlanticโ€), one of 17 foundations of the United States Tennis Association, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving approximately 32,000 members across the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and eastern and southern West Virginia. We are seeking organized and customer-focused Seasonal Part-Time Event Staff to support competitive tennis events in Newport News and Williamsburg locations.

The Role 

This role will assist with the administration and on-site execution of competitive events taking place at Huntington Park Tennis Center, Newport News, VA, and Kingsmill Resort, Williamsburg, VA, such as tournaments and league championships. The Seasonal Part-Time Event Staff work closely with USTA/Mid-Atlantic staff to deliver organized, welcoming, and high-quality event experiences for players, families, and guests.

 

Key areas of responsibility include:

Customer Service & Hospitality โ€“ Creates a welcoming and positive experience for players, families, and spectators by demonstrating professionalism, friendliness, and responsiveness.

Organization & Attention to Detail โ€“ Supports event logistics such as player check-in, match coordination, and venue setup while ensuring courts, signage, and materials remain organized and accurate.

Teamwork & Communication โ€“ Works collaboratively with staff, volunteers, vendors, and tournament directors while communicating clearly and responding quickly to event needs.

The Seasonal Event Staff are expected to have reliable transportation (there is no travel reimbursement) and be able to work at least five (5) hours of an event. The estimated hours are below; however, weather, along with operational and business needs, may adjust these hours accordingly.

Who You Are

Event Coordination (90%)

  • Assist with event setup and breakdown, including signage, equipment, and hospitality areas.
  • Greet and direct players, families, and spectators during events.
  • Support player check-in, match logistics, and distribution of event materials.
  • Help maintain organized courts, signage, and hospitality areas.
  • Provide event and venue information to players and guests.
  • Ensure facility policies and tournament procedures are followed.
  • Assist the Tournament Director and USTA staff with event operations and issue resolution.
  • Serve as an on-site point of contact for players, volunteers, and vendors.

Administrative & Operational Support (10%)

  • Complete SafeSport training and maintain annual certification.
  • Support staff with general event operations and logistics as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Education

  • High School Diploma / GED equivalent.

Experience

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and outdoors during events.
  • Strong organization and communication skills. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced event environment and interact positively with participants and guests.
