This is a part-time position with the City of Canton. An employee in a part-time position may work up to twenty-nine hours a week and their schedule will be determined by the City. Employees in this position will be offered paid vacation, sick time and a retirement plan.

Job Description
General Statement of Duties:
The Electronic Specialist is primarily responsible for operating and maintaining electronic instrumentation, plant operations computer based equipment and control devices for the entire operation of the Water Reclamation Facility (WRF). Supervises the activities of the Senior Instrumentation Specialist. The employee works under the general supervision of the WPCC Superintendent and/or a designee.
Distinguishing Features of the Class:
Performs skilled electronic/electrical work on all WRF process control equipment. Trains and supervises employees in the use of the department's plant operations computer-based equipment.
Examples of Work:
Supervises and trains employees. Troubleshoots, plans, schedules, and assigns work. Provides technical support for the department's operations. Coordinates with other City Departments and/or agencies for assigned duties. Oversees the department's electronic, plant operations computer-based equipment, instrumentation hardware components and all other devices on and off site. Contacts vendors and/or suppliers to obtain price quotes and for technical support. Maintains, calibrates, and repairs electronic controllers, switches, etc. Calibrates all metering and control systems. Monitors, adjusts and maintains the Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) on a daily basis. Ensures that CEMS daily calibration checks pass all parameters. Maintains and updates lift station telemetry documentation, files, software, and reports as needed to maintain proper system operation. Conducts routine off-site inspections on pump controller and level setting devices/ electronics. Conducts routine off-site inspections on SCADA and RTU components with WRF's jurisdiction. Maintains, calibrates, and repairs the electronic equipment at the City's lift stations. Maintains daily maintenance work records. Prepares and types a variety of technical reports. Other related duties, not listed but consistent with and similar in nature, may also be required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of the principles and theories of pneumatics, hydraulics, electricity and electronics. Thorough knowledge of engineering and construction maintenance principles for all types of wastewater systems. Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to train and supervise other employees. Ability to operate a computer terminal, including keyboarding skills. Ability to prepare reports. Ability to maintain records. Ability to use a variety of electrical and mechanical tools. Ability to diagnose trouble and to interpret complex engineering drawings and/or electronic schematics. Ability to maintain, program and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLC's). Ability to climb, bend, stoop, lift, and walk, to perform investigative duties related to all aspects of WRF's operation. Must possess a valid State of Ohio Drivers' License.
Acceptable Experience and Training:
Graduation from high school or equivalent plus a two-year electrical/electronic technical degree or comparable education; five years of experience with electronic and computer-based equipment or comparable experience in similar environment; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Wastewater Treatment incentive pay shall be paid to employee(s) in this classification provided the employee possesses a Class I, II, or III Certificate as issued by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, and is an employee of WRF.

SHOULD TEN OR FEWER QUALIFIED APPLICATIONS BE RECEIVED NAMES WILL BE PLACED ON AN ELIGIBILITY LIST IN ACCORDANCE WITH THEIR APPLICATION FILING DATE.
