Wisconsin Swim Academy is an elite learn to swim program that provides high quality swim instruction within our community that builds confidence and develops lifesaving safety skills in a student-centered environment.  The Swim Team Readiness Coaching position is responsible for easing the transition for swimmers coming from our program, looking to join a swim team, as efficiently as possible.   
We have a fun and rewarding work environment with a great atmosphere for someone who loves teaching and being around water. We offer paid training and this is a part-time position that requires evening and weekend shifts.

As an Advanced Swim Program  Coach, you are responsible for the safety of each class and teaching swim skills to students using our curriculum. This position is responsible for easing the transition for swimmers in our learn to swim program looking to join improve their advanced safety and swim skills, as well as competitive swimming techniques and fundamentals. You will work to build water confidence within your students, encouraging each student to rise to the best of their abilities. We also partner with the Fox Valley Wave Swim team, so you can expect to be regularly communicating with students, parents of students, and fellow staff members about your swimmers progress and expert opinion. You should be someone who welcomes feedback and is a continuous learner. 
Our Orca, Marlin, and Swim Team Readiness levels are classes Wisconsin Swim Academy offers, taught at the Lawrence Buchanan Kiewit Wellness Center, for students looking to further push their endurance and practice upper-level skills by implementing swim team terminology, coaching teaching methods, and drills. As a coach you will learn the skills of the students assigned to you and use both verbal and physical corrections as well as adjusting the lesson plans to better cater the overall curriculum to the needs of each student. 
Responsibilities:
  • Make sure everyone is safe
  • Love and respect students while teaching them to swim
  • Follow our curriculum with a focus on the needs, abilities and comfort of each student
  • Utilizing knowledge and curriculum to advance students abilities as efficiently as possible
  • Complete required training and be a continual learner
  • Skills assessments of students 
  • Communication with parents of students 
  • Setting up and putting away equipment for class
  • Taking attendance for classes 
Qualifications:
  • Caring and compassion for children 
  • Knowledge of swimming technique and advanced skills required
  • Evening and weekend availability (School Year Shifts Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 6:00pm-8:00pm)
  • Reliable transportation to and from any shifts and trainings/meetings at either Lawrence Buchanan Kiewit Wellness Center or Wisconsin Swim Academy
  • Strong communication skills
  • Great attitude and willingness to be coached
  • The ability to commit to at least 1 year of employment
