Purpose:
The Music Coordinator is responsible for providing music leadership for the liturgical life of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. This ministerial position works closely with the Pastor and Liturgy Director to ensure sacred music enhances the worship of the parish while remaining faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church.


Primary Responsibilities

Music Ministry

  • Serve as the primary music coordinator for weekend Masses, and Holy Days.
  • Lead and rehearse choirs, cantors, accompanists, and instrumentalists.
  • Coordinate music for Holy Days, weddings, funerals, confirmations, and other special liturgies.
  • Select music appropriate to the liturgical seasons and approved by the Pastor.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and schedule parish musicians.
  • Teach vocal techniques and assist musicians in developing their gifts.
  • Encourage the spiritual growth of parish musicians.

Wedding & Funeral Music

  • Meet with engaged couples regarding wedding music.
  • Coordinate musicians for weddings.
  • Meet with families to plan funeral music.
  • Serve as musician or coordinate substitute musicians.

Music Administration

  • Maintain the parish music library.
  • Ensure copyright compliance (OneLicense, CCLI, etc.).
  • Oversee maintenance and tuning of pianos, organ, and other musical instruments.
  • Maintain sound equipment used by the music ministry.
  • Prepare and manage the annual music budget.
  • Purchase music, instruments, and supplies with Pastor approval.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Sacred Music or Music Performance.
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing preferred.
  • Ability to play piano.
  • Experience directing choirs and cantors.
  • Knowledge of Catholic liturgy and sacred music.
