Job description

Position Information This Part-time Library Technician position is located at the West Cobb Regional Library located in Kennesaw. The successful candidate will provide assistance to patrons with digital resources, check library materials in and out, conduct financial transactions, shelve materials and engage in other customer service related activities. This position works 18 hours per week including nights and weekends and 4 hours (1:00 - 5:00 pm) on scheduled Sundays.

Essential Functions Circulation/information services including: checking books in and out; registering patrons for library cards; registering patrons for voter registration cards. Take fines for overdue books. Assist in keeping daily statistics.

Develops and maintains a working knowledge about the organization and care of library materials, library services and programs. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED required; supplemented by six or more months work experience involving public interaction/customer service.

Preferred Qualifications Enjoys working with the public Demonstrates excellent computers skills - hardware, software and digital resources Works independently in a busy environment Physical Abilities Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station. Sensory Requirements Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
